Conditions Treated at Virtual Visits
Minor illness and injuries which can be treated include:
Please Note
Virtual visits are available for patients age 3 and older. Women who are pregnant should schedule an in-person appointment with their own doctor and not through virtual visits.
Because of the need to be seen in person, some conditions or illnesses may not be scheduled as Telehealth visits. Our doctors can hold visits to discuss symptoms but may require an in person follow up for diagnose and treatment.
Antibiotics are effective medications to treat bacterial infections. However, most upper respiratory infections are actually caused by viruses. Treatment of viruses with antibiotics is ineffective and may put you at risk for significant side effects such as diarrhea, upset stomach, yeast infections and allergic reactions. In addition, unnecessary usage of antibiotics can worsen a national problem of antimicrobial resistance which may put you and others at risk for more severe infections in the future. Your doctor will consider your symptoms and recommend the most appropriate and safest treatment.
Controlled Substances
Doctors will not prescribe controlled substances, muscle relaxants, medications for erectile dysfunction, or state-specific controlled medications. Refills are sometimes available, depending on health history and immediate need.
Can I Use My Insurance?
As a courtesy to our patients, we do file insurance claims directly to all insurance plans, even those who do not include Kernodle Clinic physicians in their network. However, your copayment, coinsurance and deductible costs may be higher if Kernodle Clinic is not in your network. As an additional precaution, please check with your insurance plan to see if telehealth services are covered under your plan.
