Foot Surgery

Our feet and ankles take a massive amount of stress over our lifetimes. Between standing, walking, exercising and everyday use, they are used countless hours over the course of our lives. This everyday stress placed on our feet can cause problems in our feet and ankles. Traumatic injuries to our feet, ankles and lower legs can leave it difficult or impossible to walk. Compound this with diabetic extremity issues and foot problems experienced from birth, and there is no wonder why feet and ankles can cause many different problems for all people. Some problems can be corrected or treated with non-surgical options, however some may require foot surgery.

DO I NEED SURGERY?

The purpose of foot surgery is to diagnose, treat and prevent medical conditions and problems in the feet, ankles and even lower legs. If you are experiencing chronic pain or have experienced some kind of foot or ankle trauma, it is best to talk with a physician about how to address your medical condition. Surgery and other treatment options can be discussed with one of our podiatric physicians at Kernodle Clinic.

Our podiatrists are all trained foot and ankle surgeons and are Board Certified in multiple different podiatry surgery specialties. Our podiatrists are focused on providing you with excellent non-surgical or surgical care. At Kernodle Clinic, some of the podiatry services we provide are:

  • Foot surgery
  • Ankle surgery
  • Overuse injury treatment and surgery
  • Trauma treatment (sprains, breaks, strains)
  • Diabetic extremity treatment and surgery
  • Wound care
  • Orthotic therapy options
  • Reconstructive surgery (bunions, hammertoes and flat feet surgery for adults or children)

FOOT SURGERY RECOVERY

Much of foot surgery success depends on not only the accuracy and success of the surgery itself, but the physical therapy after the surgery. Physical therapy after surgery allows the foot, ankle, tendons, ligaments, muscles and nerves in the foot to adjust and return to normal, or as close to normal function as possible. At Kernodle Clinic, we also offer physical therapy programs to help strengthen and increase range of motion of the foot, ankle and lower extremities.

Our foot surgeries are performed at Alamance Regional Medical Center (ARMC) and Mebane Surgical Center. For more information about our surgery options, contact us at our Burlington, NC or Mebane, NC office.
