ABOUT ME…
My path to becoming a doctor was nontraditional. After two years of college, I bought a family photography business and worked with my wife in the studio. Ten years later, the studio was asked to do the photography for a marketing campaign for the local hospital. Listening to the stories of patients and doctors in the campaign inspired me to pursue a career in medicine. My journey through medical school led me to pursue internal medicine as a specialty. I love that it gives me the ability to treat a wide range of medical problems and feel that it plays an important part in helping me to care for my patient’s overall health needs. My wife and I were high school sweethearts growing up in Georgia and have enjoyed living in North Carolina for many years. The people in this area have been good to us, and I wish to return that kindness through the great medical care.

As a Nurse Practitioner in the Physiatry department, I will strive to maximize conservative management of spine and musculoskeletal pain. I hope to achieve this by utilizing injections, physical therapy along with medications while minimizing usage of long term narcotic pain medication. I am excited to help patients become the most functional version of themselves.

I am a non-surgical orthopaedic and sports medicine specialist who combined a core training of family medicine with a specialty training of musculoskeletal medicine to have the ability to treat medical issues and orthopaedic injuries caused from sports and exercise. I treat a wide variety of conditions throughout the body related to the muscles, bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. I also specialize in non-surgical care, which offers conservative treatments to try to avoid surgery, if possible. I often use ultrasound to help show patients what is bothering them at the time of their visit. I also use ultrasound to guide injections to improve symptoms. I work with my patients towards a shared decision for treatment that aligns with their goals. Finally, I want to help my patients develop a lifestyle of wellness. Exercise is medicine and injury prevention is the key to body longevity.

I am an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. Most of my patients are active and are unable to participate in the activities they enjoy. I treat patients of all ages with shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle pain. This includes young athletes with ACL injuries, shoulder dislocations, or hip impingement; middle-aged patients with rotator cuff tears or meniscus injuries; and older patients with shoulder arthritis. I also treat patients with a variety of fractures. My goal is to ensure that each patient has an excellent experience throughout their care. My treatment philosophy involves truly listening to each patient and understanding their goals for care. This allows us to make a joint decision regarding the best treatment, whether that involves surgery or non-surgical options. I spend most of my free time with my wife and daughter. I enjoy playing a variety of sports, staying active, and traveling.

I began my medical career as a radiologic technologist performing x-rays and CTs at High Point Regional Hospital. After a year of working, I desired to go back school to become a physician assistant so I could be more involved in patient care. I am very passionate about patient care, satisfaction, and developing long term friendships. I decided internal medicine to get to know my patients better and their families. When I am not practicing at the clinic, I am enjoying family time with my wife. I also enjoy kayaking, fishing (catch and release), golfing, and grilling out.

I am board certified in internal medicine and I have been practicing urgent care medicine since 1997. I enjoy the fast pace of urgent care, as well as the opportunity to solve problems for my patients. My approach has always been to accurately diagnose and treat underlying issues, while alleviating symptoms whenever possible. My training in internal medicine, my transitional internship (mixed medicine/surgery), as well as my previous roles as medical director of an intensive care unit and emergency room have prepared me well for the practice of urgent care. Growing up, I was undecided as to whether I wanted to become a detective or a teacher. I feel that my current work in urgent care allows me to be both!

I grew up in Durham, North Carolina. I always wanted to become a doctor. Medicine combines two things that I love: people and science. I am board-certified in family medicine and have been practicing urgent care medicine since 2011. I even served as medical director for a local urgent care center for five years. Trained as a primary care physician, I love the broad scope of urgent care medicine, along with the chance to perform procedures. I also love the challenge and variety of acute care needs and diagnoses. While medicine is challenging and patients are in need, I do try to connect with my patients and address their needs, but make them feel special at the same time. In my free time, I enjoy time with my wife and friends, exercising, and playing music as a hobby musician (guitar, bass, and drums).
