My role as a physical therapist is to eliminate disability, prevent injury, and maximize restoration of function and participation. I believe that the most important part of my job is to educate and encourage patients in a way that optimizes their overall quality of life in a relational and intentional way, which is why I chose the career of physical therapy in the first place. I treat a wide variety of orthopedic diagnoses and conditions mainly within the adult and geriatric populations.

I am a general orthopedic surgeon with a specialty interest in Sports Medicine working at Kernodle. I enjoy and am experienced in treating all aspects of sports-related injuries to the shoulder and upper extremity, the hip, and the knee and lower extremity. I also perform adult reconstructive procedures such as, knee, and shoulder replacements, and treat many fractures and other trauma-related injuries. Born in Albany, New York, I was raised in the Northeast, attending Williams College before obtaining my medical degree at the University of Rochester. I received my orthopedic training at Duke University where my wife and I fell in love with North Carolina. We moved back to the Northeast, however, to be closer to my parents. Recently, my wife and I returned to my “orthopedic roots” here in central North Carolina and couldn’t be happier.

I enjoy interacting with patients. As a family medicine doctor, I get to see a lot of ages, from babies to the elderly and everyone in between. I think it’s important to have a good relationship with the patient. I really enjoy getting to know patients, talking with them about their families, about their jobs, and how they are doing in general. I’ve always enjoyed providing care for people and chose to go into family medicine because it really encompasses all fields. Duke is a well-respected organization, and we strive to provide excellent care to patients. I’m originally from Trinidad and Tobago and love living in this area.

I completed my Neurology residency at UNC Chapel Hill in 2012 in fellowship in epilepsy in 2013 also at UNC. I joined the Kernodle Clinic in 2013 and our group is growing fast. We work to provide excellent service and patient satisfaction which are very important to us. I am a general neurologist and am able to see patients for any type of neurologic condition or concern. I have a special interest in epilepsy (seizures), headaches, and neuropathy (such as arm and leg numbness, tingling and pain). I am originally from Ohio and enjoy visiting my siblings there a few times a year. I like exploring different restaurants around town, visiting Banner Elk and the beach, and playing with my dachshund for fun.

ABOUT ME…
It has been one of the great pleasures and honors of my life to be able to care for and become friends with the many great people of Alamance County over the two decades I have practiced. I have always tried to treat my patients like the friends and neighbors they are. I treasure the ability we have had to laugh, celebrate and cry together during some of life’s important moments. As many of my patients are aware from knowing me as a doctor and friend in the community, I have several other interests in life. First and foremost, I consider myself a family man who loves to spend time with his family. I am also an avid reader who enjoys fiction as well as an eclectic variety of other books ranging from philosophy and religion to astronomy, history and sports topics. I like to boat and fish when time allows and I do enjoy a round of golf (as cliché as that may be for a doctor). I am able to provide primary care to all adult ages and I think I have a thriving practice after 20 plus years of practice. I do get added satisfaction helping the very vulnerable patients I care for who are confined to nursing facilities and I hope I have made them more comfortable over time.
