Kimberly A. Mills, MSN, APRN, ANP-BC

I see adult patients with general gastroenterology problems, such as heartburn, trouble swallowing, abdominal pain, change in bowel habits, rectal bleeding, colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, liver, and pancreas disorders. I value my patient’s input and want them to feel comfortable talking with me. I strive to create a partnership with my patients based on trust, comfort, safety, and empathy so that we can set goals to optimize their health and prevent complications. When I am not working, I love to spend time with my family and friends, try new recipes, read, garden, and exercise.

Steven M. Russo, DO

As a general gastroenterologist, I treat conditions of the gastrointestinal tract, such as heartburn/acid reflux, constipation, diarrhea, colon polyps, difficulty swallowing, liver disease, pancreatitis, and other conditions. I strongly believe in preventative care and polyp screening for my patients and perform routine upper and lower endoscopy. I have a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, and Crohn’s disease. It is important to me to listen to and educate my patients on their conditions and how to work together to best improve their quality of life. When not working, my time is spent with my wife and two dogs. My interests include gardening, hiking, and supporting the UNC Tar Heels.

C. Trevor Locklear, MD, MPH

I’m a native North Carolinian and second generation gastroenterologist. I’m a general gastroenterologist, so I treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas. This includes heart burn, constipation, diarrhea, inflammatory bowel disease, pancreatitis, cirrhosis, and numerous other conditions. I also perform routine endoscopic procedures, such as upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. I love gastroenterology as a specialty because it requires a team effort from nurses, techs, and patients to provide quality care. Being from North Carolina, I treat my patients as family and encourage a dialogue with my patients as medicine is a balance of science and art. Every individual is different. When not working, I enjoy reading and hunting, but my main focus outside of work is my wife and two young sons.
